A key part of the United States' coronavirus containment strategy is an epidemiological tool called contact tracing: Find sick people, isolate them, and then trace everyone with whom they have been in contact and put those people into quarantine. It is a process that has worked well for other epidemics.

As the coronavirus peaks in certain states, stabilizes in others, and rapidly grows into hot spots in other areas of the country, contact tracing is becoming a clear priority of local and state governments. But contact tracing is an arduous process that takes both time and manpower.

In the state of Indiana, our company’s corporate headquarters, the government put out an all points bulletin last week to recruit an “army” of people to help with contact tracing. State Health Commissioner Kristina Box said she is studying how to find enough people to conduct contact tracing to help slow the spread of the virus. Though volunteers at medical schools have been used for the process, Box is also looking at using cell phone and location tracing systems to help.

Finding an “army” of volunteers is no small task – and using surveillance systems like Google maps and Cell Phone Tracing Software starts to encroach on individual privacy concerns. That is why SHS is offering our smart referencing technology, RefLynk, to local and state governments to get the job done quickly, efficiently, and with minimal disruptions to an individual’s privacy.

RefLynk can balance contact tracing AND self-quarantine without following an individual via invasive cell tracking devices. In fact, by using RefLynk for contact tracing, many layers of the process becomes automated, requiring less man-power and speeding up the time it takes to trace all the people the individual has come into contact with during the 14-day incubation period of the virus.

A text-based software that can provide comprehensive contact tracing in a quick turnaround of 12 hours, RefLynk is driven by the most innovative AI technology available. It includes:

  • Confirmed individual provided a link via SMS or email

  • Enters all known contacts over past 14 days

  • Sends a message via SMS or email to those exposed, explains and recommends self-quarantine for 14 days.

  • People exposed can then enter all of the people they have had contact with over past 14 days and sends them an SMS/email explaining and asking then to quarantine or take whatever action healthcare experts suggest.

  • All messages are automated with reminders

  • Healthcare teams can quickly view reports, statuses, etc

  • Personal ID’s and health information can be limited to those who need to see it

Reflynk will help local governments in their contact tracing efforts, cutting the manpower and process time down so that they can keep people safe during this unprecedented time.

Mike McCarty, CEO of Safe Hiring Solutions and a former law enforcement officer, says, “As a company, Safe Hiring Solutions has a mission of keeping people safe.  I am reaching out to our local government offering our Reflynk services to them to help track and contain the spread of the Coronavirus.  Our team is happy that we have a service that answers a great need in the fight against this pandemic.
