The Safety Zone Podcast

The Safety Zone focuses on violence prevention, informed recruiting, and how we keep the workplace, schools, youth serving organizations, places of worship, and communities safe. We teach how to move past reactionary policies and adopt a culture of prevention which includes protocols that have been proven to reduce violence crime (including sexual abuse) and provide proactive safety programs for churches, schools, volunteer organizations, healthcare and corporate entities.

Our guests either have decades of prevention experience [many of them serving in the Secret Service, Navy Seals, specialized law enforcement, or community activists] or they are themselves survivors of violent crime who have an important story to share.

Mike is the CEO of Safe Hiring Solutions and a former violent crime detective with 25+ years of violence prevention experience. He has consulted with the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of Defense, and Homeland Security. Mike helped design and implement what became the largest community-based domestic violence program in the U.S., which resulted in a 50% reduction in homicides.

Melinda Ronn, Director of Communications, has more than 30 years of experience working with churches and ministries in the U.S., providing local and national outreach partnerships, communication expertise, and public relations. Melinda also worked with the George W. Bush White House alongside the Office of Public Liaison in their outreach to churches and ministries.
